Our agency provides information and referrals as well as an extensive online directory of resources. CDHH also provides library loan items.
CONSUMER EDUCATION
CDHH conducts public outreach and events to increase awareness about community needs, including presentations, town hall meetings, and educational programming.
CONSULTATION
Staff provides training, consultation, and technical assistance regarding standards for effective communication and on other relevant topics.
LEGISLATIVE ACTION
CDHH monitors and recommends state regulations related to improving the quality of life for deaf and hard of hearing citizens.
About Us
Established in 1991, the Council’s goal is to improve the quality of life for Idahoans who are deaf and hard of hearing by providing information, serving as an advocate, and increasing access to services. By statute, there are nine voting members appointed by the Governor.

To create an environment in which Idahoans of all ages, who are deaf or hard of hearing, have an equal opportunity to participate as active, responsible, productive, and independent citizens of Idaho.
